This large format non-fiction book includes sixteen living creatures from the sea. All Australian, they include well known sea life, such as the bottlenose dolphin, great white shark, blue-ringed octopus and green sea turtle, and others less well known, such as the nudibranch, a sea slug. Readers will learn where each can be found, what they look like, what they eat and how they live.
The illustrations are detailed in soft pastel colours. The layout of the book is the same throughout, with the written text and a small picture on the left hand side and a large illustration of the sea creature on the right hand side of each double page spread. The foiled lettering and grained lamination on the front cover welcomes readers.
This is a beautifully produced book, informative both verbally and visually. It will be well read over the Australian summer as many travel to the beach for their holidays. Highly recommended.
Many thanks to Hardie Grant Egmont for supplying this book for review.
