As all teachers know, occasionally things pop up in the school day that disrupt your planning. Last fortnight, on the last day of my book talks, one of my Reading classes was involved in a medieval performance at the school. Unfortunately I could only stay for half the session, however my last class of the day, and the fortnight, was also in the audience. So I decided to change my scheduled book talk from dystopian fiction to medieval fiction.

I have lists of books available for the boys, such as medieval, books for gamers, samurai fiction, and war fiction. Linking fiction to areas of study, and interest, is another way to encourage reading. Below are some of the medieval books we have in our library. I quickly grabbed some off the shelf to share with the boys, while the medieval experience was fresh in their minds!
