Grandpa is back, this time convincing his young grandson the dark is nothing to be afraid of. To prove this they camp outside, to watch the stars and the moon. This is the perfect opportunity for Grandpa to tell about his adventure, with Rover, to the moon. Like the previous publication, Grandpa’s Big Adventure, Grandpa is full of hilarious stories, filled with puns and jokes to entertain not only the young audience for whom this is intended, but also adults reading it aloud. After building the rocket in the backyard, Grandpa and Rover took two days to get to the moon. On the way they enjoy high tea and pass the cow, the first animal in space, as it flies over the moon.
The verbal text is very funny and works so well with the brilliant cartoon like illustrations. The end papers, illustrated with the phases of the moon, are a wonderful introduction.
Highly recommended for all ages, especially grandpas and grandchildren.
